This solution is trend-setting for an entire region: During a discussion
with the Lord Mayor, Dr. Jürgen Linden, the Aachen-Laurensberger
Rennverein (ALRV) and Alemannia Aachen have agreed upon a ground
distribution. This will allow the new Alemannia stadium to be constructed
next to the equestrian stadium. Whereby the ALRV will be placing
part of its own ground at their disposal for this purpose. As well
as the stadium, the new First Division team will also be able to
create five training grounds.
At the same time the ALRV is also being given the opportunity to
build a new training ground. Joint surface usage has been agreed
upon for functional surfaces - such as for parking spots for TV
broadcast vans. In this way the agreement has advantages for both
clubs, since "we are ultimately all betting on the same horse,"
said Klaus Pavel. The ALRV President went on to note: "The
ALRV is pleased that it was able to contribute to the further development
of the Alemannia to such an extent. The future CHIOs will also benefit
from this agreement. This settlement is extremely positive news
especially with regards to the good neighbourhood and both clubs'
closeness to the people. It is also a further step in the direction
towards a `Sportpark Soers´. Together we are looking forward
to celebrating the success of the Alemannia in the First Division
and to the CHIO Aachen and the World Equestrian Games Aachen 2006."
Alemannia President, Professor Horst Heinrichs, is also satisfied
with the agreement: "I am pleased that the two most important
clubs of the City of Aachen, the ALRV and Alemannia Aachen, have
succeeded in coming to such a constructive solution, which is also
in the interests of the city-planning issues of the City of Aachen."
According to both Presidents, the neighbours have not only grown
closer together in aerial terms as a result of the constructive
discussions. The Lord Mayor, Dr. Jürgen Linden, praised the
good atmosphere of the discussions: "The negotiations were
hallmarked by a friendly, good neighbourly spirit among all of the
people involved."
