WEG Aachen 2006: Over 950 employees meet up in Aachen
ALRV information day clarifies final queries on the organisation
and course of events

Excited discussions took place everywhere and final queries were
clarified: Around 900 voluntary and 50 permanent employees met up
for the information day of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein (ALRV),
in order to finalise the preparations for the World Equestrian Games
Aachen 2006 (August 20th - September 3rd). "All of us together,
we as a team, will contribute to the organisation of this big event.
And it is precisely the voluntary members, who form the organisational
core of the WEG," said Frank Kemperman, ALRV General Director
and Member of the Organising Committee.
To ensure that everything runs smoothly in a few weeks' time, the
planning and course of events - from the sports programme to the
accompanying events and the car park situation through to the exact
task of every individual - were once again discussed in minute detail.
More than 1,500 voluntary staff will be employed at the World Equestrian
Games, for instance as stewards, hostesses or chauffeurs, on location
or at info stands in hotels and stations. "You are our WEG
ambassadors for the guests from all over the world," commented
Kemperman.
500,000 visitors are expected to attend the second largest sporting
event in Germany this decade and 150,000 of them will be travelling
in from abroad. Tickets are still available for all disciplines
from the hotline on +49-(0)241-917-1111.
800 sportsmen and women will be competing for 16 World Championship
titles in seven disciplines - show-jumping, dressage, eventing,
driving, endurance, vaulting and reining (Western dressage).
