FEI World Equestrian Games: 425,000 tickets have been sold
Tickets still available for all disciplines
425,000 tickets have already been sold, one week before the FEI
World Equestrian Games start. "We are ultimately reckoning
on half a million visitors," says Michael Mronz, member and
spokesman of the WEG OC.
The WEG visitors can look forward to top sport and at the same time
to the special atmosphere offered by the traditional show grounds
in Aachen. The show-jumper Ludger Beerbaum comments, "Aachen
is extraordinary, something special, very emotional." The Tournament
Director and OC member, Frank Kemperman agrees: "The WEG lives
from emotions," he says and is particularly looking forward
to the impressive and spectacular Opening Ceremony on August 20th.
Tickets are still available for the overture of the WEG - and for
all of the individual disciplines too. They can be ordered from
the hotline +49-(0)241-917-1111 and all further information is available
online at www.aachen2006.de.
"We are still in the fortunate position of being able to offer
tickets for all of the disciplines," says Mronz. Tickets are
also still on sale for the dressage and show-jumping "international
games ". Whereas the German show-jumping team are top favourites
to win the gold medal, the situation on the dressage scene is very
close: For the first time in 30 years the World Champion gold medal
seems to be endangered, strong competition from the Dutch team around
Anky van Grunsven is putting Nadine Capellmann and co. under great
pressure. The eventing competitions promise to be highly exciting
too, here everyone is waiting for just one thing: the sporting reply
to Athens. After being stripped of the Olympic gold medal by the
green table decision, Bettina Hoy's single aim is to take the World
Championship title.
Of the 500,000 expected visitors, 150,000 guests will be travelling
to Germany from abroad. 16 gold medals will be awarded in seven
disciplines from August 20th - September 3rd. After the Opening
Ceremony on August 20th, endurance, dressage, eventing and vaulting
are on the agenda in the first week of the tournament. In the second
week the best drivers, western riders and show-jumpers in the world
are going to be determined.
