Sand to combat the rain
The training areas of the four-in-hand drivers are currently being
improved - Marathon course in top condition
Huge amounts of sand have been transported onto the training areas
of the four-in-hand drivers over the last few days. "As a result
of the continuous rain," stated Baron Wolf von Buchholtz, Sports
Director of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. (ALRV), "the
areas are very wet, which is currently making the training conditions
difficult." The Marathon course at the Soers is on the other
hand in top condition.
20 lorries full of sand and six full of shavings have reached the
show grounds over the last few days, in order to ensure the best
possible footing conditions. The sand was deposited onto the training
areas and the shavings were used to improve the ground in the driver's
camp. "We reacted at a very early stage," continued von
Buchholtz, "There is, however, good news concerning the remaining
rings: "All other ground conditions - including that of the
show-jumping ring in Stadium 1 - are very good," commented
Tournament Director, Frank Kemperman.
